Each month throughout this school year our officers are going to recognize one outstanding member that has stood out to us. Since, we are just getting started with this school year and with our NWCTA chapter we thought we would recognize a member who stood out to us last year. The October member of the month is... Brian Barriga.
Brian is a senior that was actively involved with HOSA all last school year and is currently a member this year. He competed at the 2016 Nevada HOSA State Leadership Conference in CERT Skills, which he received second place with his partner. He continued and competed at the 2016 International Leadership Conference in CERT skills. Even though he didn't place at Internationals, Brian gave all he had into his competiton. In addition to this, Brian received the Barbara James Service Award at SLC and ILC, in which is given to members who complete 100+ hours of community service.
All in all, Brian was one of the few seniors actively involved in HOSA last year and he represented our school well at both the State Leadership Conference and the International Leadership Conference. Thank you Brain for being a great NWCTA HOSA member!
The carnival and homecoming dance sales were successful! At the carnival we sold 180 Shirley temples, and made approximately 140 dollars that went towards the National Alliance for Mental Illness. As well throughout this school year we will continue to raise money for this amazing organization. At the homecoming dance we sold sodas and waters, in which we raised over 300 dollars for our organization. Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped us with both the carnival and homecoming sales.
