Three Square is the only food bank in Southern Nevada that provides food assistance to the Nye, Lincoln, Esmeralda, and Clark Counties. In the month of January, our HOSA members volunteered at Three Square's northern campus in their volunteer room, participating in the Sort-a-Thon events in which various produce are packed, assorted, and sent to families, churches, and homeless shelters alike for the food-insecure persons in their service area of Southern Nevada. Other events that our members have participated in is the Kids Cafe Kitchen in which volunteers assort juice, vegetables, fruits, and more into packaged meals for schools to hand out to their students. Being a part of the Feeding America effort, Three Square has distributed 36 million meals and 44 million pounds of food and produce. As said through their motto, together, we can feed everyone!
The Nevada HOSA President, Emily Carter, and Post-Secondary Vice President, Angela Borro, visited our Northwest chapter as a part of their chapter initiative visits. They went over the HOSA values, the HOSA emblem, and introduced their duties. Emily Carter spoke about how HOSA changed her life, developed her leaderships skills, and provided insight on her path in the health care field. Our members engaged in telling the officers why they joined HOSA, their HOSA moment, and what HOSA means to them as a CTSO/school club. Ms. Borro informed us that she was a part of the effort in starting collegiate HOSA chapter in the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. They reviewed State Leadership Conference information which will take place March 19 through 22, 2018 in Reno, Nevada. We would like to thank our state officers for visiting our chapter. #nvchamps
